Lessons from the Toy Box

I made a bear a couple days ago, a cute blue bear named Tyler. My Tyler Bear has the cutest button eyes, an upturned little nose, and a fluffy white scarf. The Tyler Bear was, I truly believe, named by divine inspiration after a casual acquaintance of mine from whom I am learning a valuable lesson.

You see, my Tyler Bear has been ridiculed. Yes, it's awful and difficult to understand, but my Tyler Bear has had to face ridicule already in his short existence. The Tyler that I know also faces ridicule and is misunderstood. And this is where the divine inspiration really kicks in; my Tyler Bear exists as a reminder to love the less-than-lovable, the people who are mocked, despised, picked on, left out, and publicly humiliated, sometimes even by Christians. My Tyler Bear reminds me not to be filled with self-righteousness and pity, but to be filled with love, compassion, and a heart to serve those who have no one left to love them. Just like any good Teddy Bear, my Tyler Bear exists because of love. Everyone knows that that is the life purpose of a stuffed animal: to be loved by a child (or an adult for that matter) who needs an outlet for expression of the deep wells of love that God has put inside of their heart, just as He put it inside of you and me.

So how about you and I not only give this love away, but continually go to God for more of this kind of love so that we would be literally overflowing with love for the world? Imagine how much better the world would be if we just started loving the people right next to us every day. Imagine how much God-light would be shining into the world if we all just began right where we were to love everyone we came into contact with. Just imagine...and then let God make it a reality.

Please ignore my messy desk and bad lighting
