Colors I Am Not

42

By Patience Virtue

Sometimes I live in a land of blue;

Peaceful, serene, calm, content.

Sometimes I live in a world of red;

Intense, passionate, emotional, vivid.

Sometimes purple gathers me up

Into its peaceful turbulence.

And sometimes no color can hold me.

Not the happiness of yellow,

The growth and change of green,

The daintiness of pink,

Nor earthy, homey browns and oranges.

Black is too somber,

White too piercing,

And gray has not the intensity

To portray the nothing in my soul.

I am not.
